The Response - Hollow Branches
The bouncy, sing-along intro strikes you immediately as a new sound for the duo, dialing back the sense of urgency displayed on their last release. As Hollow Branches continues, Andy paints a vivid picture singing “All these Hollow Branches can’t take the weight..” atop a bed of just breaking up guitars, reminiscent of indie heroes Grizzly Bear.
Lyrics for Hollow Branches
I’m just cracks in the ceiling
A mark on the glass
And I won’t go unnoticed
But not taken to task
The sun’s always setting
And the day filled with fog
And I wouldn’t mind waiting
If I just heard you talk
All these hollow branches can’t take the weight
Every little dance has written my fate
And nobody is laughing
Can someone take it, I’ve not got enough
Da da da da da da da da da
I can’t tell if I’m dreaming
Or if I’m awake
I’m just repeating these actions
Again and again
Like innocent gestures
That are taken for more
I’m a full fledged disaster
Maybe three times in four
All these hollow branches can’t take the weight
Every little dance has written my fate
And nobody is laughing
Can someone take it, I’ve not got enough
Da da da da da da da da da
